One of the leading Russian asset management companies will be renaming one of its mutual funds to comply with Olympic law which provides the necessary legal basis to protect the Olympic and Paralympic brands in Russia.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of Sochi 2014 said, “once Sochi won the bid to host the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, our country undertook an obligation to protect the integrity of the Olympic brand. December 2007 saw Russia adopt the Olympic Law”.
The Olympic brand can be used by International Olympic Committee (IOC) TOP Partners as well as Organizing Committee Partners.
Meanwhile Sochi 2014 has selected winners of the All-Russia competition “Olympic relay volunteers ‘Sochi-Vancouver-Sochi'”. Successful competitors will travel to the Vancouver 2010 Games to gain experience in volunteering.
During the two-day final, the competitors underwent “rigorous” tests by independent experts and Sochi 2014 specialists, said a Sochi 2014 press release.
Twenty-two people were selected to form the “Volunteer Team” to work at the Vancouver 2010 Games. They will undergo a series of interviews with Vancouver 2010 specialists. When the final list is compiled, successful candidates will have training sessions to equip them with the skills necessary to help work at a major event.
Members of the team will work in Vancouver in a variety of areas, including reception, technical support, maintenance of sporting facilities and accreditation.
The experience gained will be used in the preparation of Sochi 2014 volunteers as other Russian volunteers benefit from their knowledge.
