Sochi 2014 Appoints CEO

Dimitry Chernyshenko has been appointed CEO of Sochi’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Chernyshenko has had many years of experience working with the Russian Ministry of Sport. He is the Senior Vice President of Media Arts Group, one of the largest advertising companies in Russia, and the President of “Sportima” sports marketing agency, one of the leaders on the CIS market.

Chernyshenko said on his appointment “I am delighted to have been asked to join the Sochi 2014. As evidenced by my past experiences I have a life-long passion for sports and contributing to bringing the Olympic Winter Games to Sochi, my native town, and the whole of Russia would obviously be my greatest achievement.

“We have a strong team and are determined to work very hard to realize our ambitions. I think we have good chances of winning the right to host the 2014 Olympic Winter Games”.

One of Chernyshenko’s first acts as CEO was leading the Sochi 2014 team at the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee, held in Dublin last week.
