If you want to smoke at the 2004 Games in Athens, you’ll have to find the special area designated for smoking. Associated Press reports that smoking will be banned in all competition and non-competition venues.
Athens 2004 organizers said, “the aim of Athens 2004 is to organize non-smoking Games but without disturbing the delicate balance between the rights of smokers and non-smokers”.
Smoking will be prohibited in the main press centre and in the bleachers and stands at all outdoor sports arenas, including the beach volleyball area.
In Greece, smoking is banned in health offices, indoor public areas and on public transportation.
