Straits Times reports Sergey Bubka, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Co-Ordination Commission chairman, said Wednesday that operational planning should begin by the end of September for the 2010 Olympic Youth Games, adding that rising costs had already forced a change in plans. He said, “they’ve got no time to lose from concept to operations”, he said as he revealed the need to change the original plan for the Athletes Village.
“Because of oil and construction costs we had to find an alternative as the original costs had risen by 2.5 times”.
Youth Games organizing chairman Ser Niang Ng admitted that Singapore faced a challenge but said they were up to meeting it. “We have plenty to do and we are aware of the responsibilities” he said.
