The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games now has a chief executive officer. He’s Brigadier-General (NS) Goh Kee Nguan, a former senior commander in the Singapore Armed Forces and chair of the executive committee of the 2006 National Day Parade.
Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, one of the advisers to the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee said, “such experience put him in good stead to ensure that the operational and logistical aspects of the inaugural YOG run smoothly”.
Meanwhile Singapore is looking to recruit about 5,000 local and 2,000 international volunteers for the Games. The organizing committee has received more than a hundred offers from the public to volunteer for the Youth Games and is working closely with the respective National Olympic Committees, National Sports Associations, schools, sports clubs and volunteer organizations to identify and recruit the volunteers.
Volunteers interested can register on the Singapore 2010 website.
