Lee Kun-hee, head of Samsung Group, met with PyeongChang 2014 Winter Olympic bid officials Friday and said he would assist them with the 2014 bid process.
The Korea Times reports it was the first time Lee met with the PyeongChang 2014 bid committee in recent years although he is one of two International Olympic (IOC) Committee members in South Korea.
Also attending the meeting were Park Yong-sung, former Doosan Group chairman and IOC member Kim Jin-sun, governor of Gangwon province.
In a speech Lee said, “hosting of the Winter Olympics will gather Korean people’s energy and will galvanize our economy and strengthen its global competitiveness. Hosting the Olympics is a major national affair, and the integration of the people is the key to its success”.
