Salzburg 2014 has sent a “prominent” delegation to the annual World Congress of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) congress in Bregenz Austria where Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer is giving the inaugural address.
The delegation includes Heinz Scheden, Salzburg’s Mayor and President of Salzburg’s bid, as well as Salzburg 2014 Executive Directors Gernot Leitner and Rudolf Hoeller.
Salzburg 2014 is also promoting its bid with a stand in the exhibition area which it says offers journalists material and information on Salzburg’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
Leo Wallner, IOC Member and President of the OEOC said, “I am delighted that the Sports Journalists Associations of Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are hosting this year’s AIPS congress. We often forget that sport journalists are the most important partners of sporting events, in particular the Olympic Games”.
He added, “Austria is a country of sport enthusiasts. For this reason especially sport journalists in Austria are held in high esteem. Should Salzburg be awarded the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014, then international journalists would be able to enjoy this journalist-friendly atmosphere”.
