Salzburg 2014 Encourages Youth

Salzburg 2014 has created an Olympic Youth Festival concept, which it says will create the opportunity for a “magical, once-in-a-lifetime Olympic experience in a single day to re-ignite the passion of the young for winter sport and the Olympic Winter Games”.

Because of its geographical position at the crossroads of Europe within a day’s drive or train ride, and by creating its Olympic Express Ticketing Program, Salzburg 2014 official say more than 40 million young people will have the opportunity to visit Salzburg.

Salzburg will offer two-and-three day packages specifically designed to encourage young families to bring their children to the Games and the festival, reaching the next generation in line in the process.

Salzburg’s Old Town will be transformed into the celebration centre of the Games creating a youth-driven Olympic street festival that flows from the Medals Plaza spanning the Salzach River through the plazas and passageways of the city to the 900-year-old Hohen Salzburg Castle.
