Salzburg 2014 Candidate City Status “Serious Mandate”

Salzburg 2014 says it welcomes the report by the IOC Candidature Acceptance Working Group as a mandate to continue to develop its bid plans and to work towards further enhancing the Olympic Movement.

Fedor Radmann, Salzburg 2014 CEO said, “we are delighted that the IOC Working Group is supportive of our concept and we know we now have a serious mandate to further enhance and develop our Games plan. Making the short list is a tremendous milestone for our bid, but it is only the beginning of an international mission. We want to convince the IOC that Salzburg is the best possible partner for it and that we would host a memorable 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The IOC report gives us crucial advice on areas where we still need to develop and we are fully focussed on doing this and to do our utmost to help enhance the Olympic Movement”.

Salzburg 2014 Games Plan Director DI Gernot Leitner said, “we are very happy that the general configuration of our Games Plan is appreciated by the IOC. Since all the general venue agreements and feasibility studies of our concept are in place we will now focus on the detailed planning of each venue to offer an unforgettable athlete, spectator and Olympic Family experience in 2014”.

Salzburg’s Mayor Dr. Heinz Schaden said, “we know we have a good bid plan and it is now up to every single one of us to make it even better, even more compelling. We owe it to the Olympic Movement to submit a compelling plan and that is what we are no focussed on doing”.
