In anticipation of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) 13 member Evaluation Commission’s visit to Salzburg March 14 to 17 the bid office is launching a whole series of marketing and branding activities with the branding of buses with the Salzburg 2014 design showing Salzburg 2014 ambassadors supporting the bid.
There will also be banners lining the Commission’s itinerary as well as city lights, rolling boards and post lights, which will be deployed during the IOC visit.
A local bakery chain’s shops and more than one million milk cartons from a local dairy will be branded with 2002 Olympic silver medallist in skeleton bobsleigh, Martin Retti, declaring his support for Salzburg’s bid.
The commission will be inspecting Salzburg’s 2014 sites and venues in Salzburg, in Pongau, and in Bavaria’s Schoenau am Koenigssee.
The program also includes presentations on all important related topics such as sport concepts, financing, marketing, accommodation, environment, technology, media and cultures.
Heinz Schaden, Mayor of Salzburg and Chairman of the Supervisory board of Salzburg 2014 said of the visit, “it’s going to be like sitting an exam. When voting in July in Guatemala City the IOC members will be influenced by the Evaluation Commission’s findings. We are very well prepared for this visit and I am optimistic that the Commission will leave Salzburg in a positive frame of mind and with a lot of information at their disposal”.
