Salzburg 2010 will be the final one of the three 2010 bid cities to be visited March 13 to 16, 2003 by the evaluation commission of the International Olympic Committee.
Salzburg’s managing director Dr. Egon Winkler and Secretary General Dr. Robert Kaspar said, “we must, however, be very careful to plan the Commission’s visit well and to put forward our very best effort”.
They said being the final city to be evaluated by the commission “seems ideal”.
Meanwhile, Salzburg and its partners Amade, Kitzbuhel and Schonau/Konigssee presented their bid for the 2010 Games in Schonau. About 500 invited guests attended the presentation, including the region’s Olympic champions.
In preparation for the bid a railway structure has been started and will be improved.
Dr. Josef Miller, the Bavarian minister of agriculture and forestry, promised to fully support the Salzburg 2010 bid. He said, “the Free State of Bavaria stands by this idea and I am sure that if Salzburg is elected to host the Olympic Games, the whole region will be ready”.
