Salzburg 2010 Gets Full IOC Approval To Release Bid Book

Contrary to reports that came from GamesBids.com and other media outlets yesterday, the Salzburg Bid Committee received full IOC approval to distribute its bid book and it was never withdrawn.

Salzburg 2010 Olympic Bid Spokesperson Michael Schuen told GamesBids.com that when they began the bid book presentation at 5:30pm local time the approval fax from the IOC had not yet been received.

“[The IOC] asked us not to hand them out until we received a fax [from them]”, Schuen explained adding that they already had permission to do the presentation but wanted to stick to the rules and wait for the fax before bid book distribution began.

The fax was eventually received at 5:43 p.m to an empty office half-an-hour away while staff was already at the presentation. Bid book distribution to the media began on Tuesday after the fax with the IOC’s approval had been read.

Schuen said that the files will be posted to the Salzburg-2010.com Web site in the next couple of days.

GamesBids.com regrets any confusion that the original erroneous report may have caused.
