Novisti reports that Russia will be submitting an application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by February 1 nominating Sochi to host the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Alexander Zhukov, deputy prime minister and chairman of the organizing committee, said the application would be followed by a bidding book which would outline detailed information on the region’s environment and weather conditions, transportation infrastructure, security and legal issues.
Zhukov urged the organizing committee to set up six commissions – transportation, hotel business, security, environment, international relations, mass media and telecommunications.
A Sochi 2014 delegation is headed to the Turin 2006 Winter Games where special seminars will be held for the delegates to learn about organizing such events.
