Rumours Spread That Sochi 2014 Olympic Logo Has Been Leaked

An Internet design blog, idsgn.org, has revealed what it suggests may be the new Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games logo.

The official logo and new Sochi 2014 brand is set to be launched at an elaborate ceremony on Monday that will be streamed live on the Internet and will include several dignitaries and some surprises. But if the blog is correct – the logo won’t be one of those surprises.

The rumoured logo contains five Olympic ring colored leaves or feathers that seem to be spinning in a ring of their own.

GamesBids.com has no information to confirm that this logo is the real deal.

In 2003, the official Beijing 2008 logo was leaked in advance of the official unveiling when it appeared in an online trademark database and was published for the first time on GamesBids.com.

A Russian Website, adme.ru, claims that they have a photo of the new logo which differs from the version described above.

The author writes that the logo is an “inscription in two lines: the first – sochi.ru, the second – 2014 and the image of the five Olympic rings. Color labels (the main painted tricolor) will vary to sponsor the Games to use their corporate colors. Two sources close to the process of development and harmonization of the logo, confirmed that it is this version will be presented on Monday.”

If true, this would follow a similar dynamic formula developed by the London 2012 Olympic Organzing committee. The London 2012 logo depicts “2012” and London written graffiti style and then integrates it with various colors and themes for a dynamic look.
