Although IOC president Jacques Rogge and IOC member Dick Pound of Canada met for dinner in Paris Wednesday to discuss Pound’s role on the International Olympic Committee after he resigned his powerful posts, Rogge said the two had yet to reach a “final conclusion” on what role Pound might play in the IOC.
Rogge said, “of course Mr. Pound will play a role in the IOC. We have not reached a final conclusion. We will continue to discuss together and we will meet again in December”. No location was given for their next meeting.
Rogge also said he had “total trust” in Pound. The IOC disclosed last month that Pound’s Montreal law firm had received more than $3 million in compensation from the IOC in a 16-year period of his extra legal services on Olympic business. The IOC said there was nothing improper about the payments and that Pound himself did not benefit.
Rogge said, “there is no lack of mutual trust. But that is totally different from his (possible) role at the IOC”.
