Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have submitted their bids to the Brazilian Olympic Committee.
It was reported that on Monday Rio’s mayor Caesar Maia handed the bid to Brazil Olympic Committee president Carlos Arthur Nuzman.
Brazil’s Olympic Committee will select its 2012 candidate on July 7, just four days before the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) deadline of July 11.
The IOC will announce the 2012 host city in 2005.
