Rio 2016 Says 2016 Games Will Be Secure

Carlos Arthur Nuzman, President of Rio 2016, issued a statement Thursday expressing total support for the public security policy of Governor Sergio Cabral and Security Secretary Jose Mariano Beltrane.

In the statement Nuzman said, “we reiterate our full confidence in the peace project in Rio de Janeiro, which has been held under the leadership and authority of Governor Sergio Cabral, through a careful and responsible planning in order to benefit all the population in the short, medium and long term.

“The support of the civil society and the population of Rio de Janeiro, at this moment, represents one more clear demonstration that the public security policies of the State Government is on its right way”.

He added, “we also reaffirm our full confidence in the excellence of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games security project, designed in partnership with the federal, state and city governments and approved by the International Olympic Committee. Thus we can assure that the Games in 2016, and also the testing events that will be held in 2015, will take place in an atmosphere of total security”.
