Rio 2016 Reaches Five Year Milestone To Opening Ceremony

Rio 2016 reached a five year milestone Friday to the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Rio 2016 President Carlos Arthur Nuzman presented a progress reports at the City Palace, Rio de Janeiro, attended by civil society representatives, sport personalities, business people and other officials.

Rio’s municipal government provided an update of its Games preparations.

Nuzman detailed the 10-year preparation that culminated with Rio’s winning bid in October 2009, and also presented the Games vision, mission, values and strategic pillars.

Other milestones mentioned were the completion of the Games Foundation plan and the Olympic Games emblem unveiling, the signing of the first four domestic sponsorship deals, and the launch of the Pre-Games Training Camps Registration and Selection Process.

Nuzman said that renovation of sporting venues has already started, alluding to the Maracana Stadium and the Sambodromo; and that improvements in security already benefit about 300,000 people in 18 communities.
