Rio 2016 Logo Launch At “Huge Party”

Rio 2016 says it will have a “huge party” December 31 to celebrate the launch of its logo. The launch will be held at Copacabana beach 10 p.m. local time.

The Rio 2016 brand will be projected on a large screen set up on the sand where other events are also scheduled. It will be seen by millions of people who traditionally come to the beach for the New Year’s fireworks in Copacabana.

The past year 139 candidate agencies went through a selection process until the agency in charge of designing the logo was selected. The name of the winning agency will also be unveiled December 31.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge, Rio 2016 president Carlos Arthur Nuzman, Minister of Sport Orlando Silva, Governor Sergio Cabral and Mayor Eduardo Paes will attend the launch.
