Rio 2016 Advised By Former New York Mayor

Rudi Guiliani, former Mayor of New York, is in Brazil where he said the city can become one of the safest in the world. He spoke to Rio’s municipal policemen telling them that the World Cup and the Olympics are important events to help the effort to bring urban improvement to the area.

Giuliani was responsible for the “zero tolerance” policy which cut criminality in New York.

On Rio being chosen to host the 2016 Games, Giuliani admitted he was disappointed when he found out that the U.S. had been defeated, but was happy that Brazil would have its chance to present the Games. He said he believes that endeavour will bring lots of energy to the city as well as plenty of resources, reports Brazzil Mag.

During his visit to Rio Giuliani met with Rio de Janeiro’s state governor Sergio Cabral and discussed security matters to be implemented in preparation for the World Cup and the 2016 Olympics. Cabral later announced that he intends to hire Giuliani as an adviser to reinforce security for both events.
