With just two weeks to go more than 600 delegates from 57 countries have signed up to attend SportAccord 2006 being held at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in Seoul, South Korea April 3-7.

SportAccord is an annual sports convention that brings together representatives from the 100 International Sports Federations affiliated with the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF), the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the Association of the International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF), as well as the International Olympic Committee Executive Board (IOC), together with sponsors, architects, sports lawyers, broadcasters and others to discuss the key issues facing the sports movement.

Delegates to the convention will take part in two breakout streams – “Staging a Successful Major Event” and “Financing and Promoting a Sport”. There will also be cross-topic interviews of the day, including Olympic Games Executive Director Gilbert Felli, GAISF Media Workshops, and numerous opportunities to network with other delegates.

Agenda highlights include an opening ceremony for the delegates followed by a joint dinner given by South Korea, the host country, for all delegates, IOC members and members of the Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOC), which will be hosting its General Assembly in the neighbouring COEX hotel during the same period.

The packed conference program includes speeches by some of the most influential people in the world of sport.

One of the speakers, Sarah Lewis, Secretary General of the International Ski Federation (FIS), who will be speaking on How Host Cities Can Learn From One Another says, “SportAccord has developed into a key meeting for the sports world. It is an ideal opportunity to exchange experiences and information with colleagues from other International Federations, as well as to meet with potential sponsors, service companies and look at interesting innovations.
