Race Boosts PyeongChang 2014 Bid

A long distance race designed to express enthusiasm for PyeongChang’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games took place Monday when 30 runners left Seoul on a 94 kilometre run toward Chuncheon, the capital of Gangwon Province where PyeongChang is located

The race was sponsored by the Korea Ultra Marathon Federation’s Gangwon branch.

The runners were greeted at the finish line outside Gangwon Provincial Hall by volunteers from the winter sports club Dongsamo. They joined up with other members of amateur ultra marathon groups in sending an original race banner to PyeongChang 2014 to express their hope and support for a successful bid.

Kim Joo Yeong, president of the Korea Ultra Marathon Federation said, “throughout the course I raced with all my heart out of my passion for the PyeongChang 2014 Winter Olympic bid”.
