PyeongChang, Sochi, Continue Road To 2014 Winter Games

Two of the cities bidding to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, PyeongChang and Sochi, are busy preparing their city to host the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Alexander Zhukov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government and head of the Government Committee for Sochi 2014, led a government meeting to discuss the preparation of Sochi’s 2014 Candidature File which will be submitted to the International Olympic Committee by January 10, 2007.

A working group was formed by a special Government decree to assist the bid in preparation of the bid book.

Leaders of key Russian Ministries including the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Culture Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Tourism Agency attended the meeting.

Meanwhile PyeongChang 2014 announces the two latest Honorary Ambassadors to join its bid who come from the ranks of the Olympic sports federations to taekwondo and badminton. They are Bang Soo Hyun, a Council Member on the International Badminton Federation and Moon Dai Won, who serves on the Executive Board of the World Taekwondo Federation.

PyeongChang 2014 said the two latest Honorary Ambassadors join the ranks of an elite corps that now number 38, including 14 non-residents of Korea from the fields of sports, academia and entertainment.
