Pyeongchang Should Bid Again If Defeated Says Korean IOC Member

South Korean International Olympic Committee member Kim Un-yong is positive that Pyeongchang’s bid for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games will be successful, but he said if Pyeongchang fails to win the right to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games it should bid again.

“In elections nobody can foretell who will win. So the efforts of Pyeongchang are deserved. If it fails this time they have to try it four years later. Other successful bid cities also have suffered many times.”

Meanwhile Kim has been selected to open the presentations by the Pyeongchang 2010’s bid committee on July 2 in Prague.

The bid committee will begin its one-hour presentation at 2:15 p.m. local time. About three minutes has been allotted for Kim’s speech said the committee.

Kim said Pyeongchang should get at least 40 ballots in the first stage vote to increase the possibility.

“However there is no sure thing in elections. To win the final vote there should be strategies for Pyeongchang such as absorbing the ballots cast for the city eliminated in the first phase”.
