South Korea began government consultations Thursday on ways to support PyeongChang’s bid for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, said officials.
The consultations came after the government gave its official endorsement Monday to a PyeongChang 2014 bid.
Kim Young-garp, spokesman for the PyeongChang Olympics Bid Committee said, “PyeongChang is the only bidder that has received official government approval. We can now start a full-fledged bid campaign with full government support”.
Gangwon province submitted its 2014 Winter Olympic bid plan to the South Korean government March 7.
PyeongChang plans to submit its bid application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on July 28 said Kim, and officials will attend the IOC seminar for bid cities in September.
PyeongChang will accelerate its bid in February 2006 with the submission of its mini bid book to the IOC.
