PyeongChang 2014 Bid Ambassador Tours Venues

U.S. bronze medallist in men’s free style moguls Toby Dawson, an honorary ambassador for PyeongChang 2014, was in South Korea Tuesday reaffirming his support for the bid at a press conference.

Dawson, who was born in South Korea and adopted by American parents as an infant, visited several places in PyeongChang Monday including the Alpensia Resort, venues for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as ski jumping, biathlon, cross country, luge, bobsleigh and skeleton events, now under construction.

At a press conference in Seoul Tuesday Dawson emphasized PyeongChang’s “outstanding” venues, accommodation and transportation infrastructure as well as the bid’s compact concept in which all venues are within 30 minutes travel time.

He said “the proposed Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games would provide a fantastic athlete friendly environment that, as a competitor, I know to be very important. I am also fully behind PyeongChang’s vision of expanding winter sports. In the remaining days before the IOC vote on July 4th I will continue to promote PyeongChang as a very strong candidate city to people in the international sports community”.

Dawson also confirmed that he would attend the IOC Session in Guatemala where the host city for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be selected.
