Jin-sun Kim, Governor of Gangwon Province, was elected chairman of the Governors Association of Korea on August 8.
The Governor said at a press conference that being elected the association’s chairman recognizes the commitment from the nationwide region and political camps to bring the 2014 Winter Olympic Games to PyeongChang.
The 16 members now serving as Governors and Mayors of provincial level cities of which Kim now serves as executive president pledged to rally behind PyeongChang’s 2014 bid.
With the commitment from the other association members Governor Kim and the PyeongChang 2014 bid team say they are confident that the already strong public support nation wide for PyeongChang’s bid will be further bolstered.
