The preliminary investigation against former Leipzig 2012 manager Dirk Thaerichen may be over soon. A decision could be made by the end of April.
It is alleged that Thaerichen paid a sport consulting company 80,000 euros without any authorization.
Thaerichen’s lawyer Rolf-Dieter Ruppert said he had given the District Attorney’s office extensive material to prove that Thaerichen had not distributed any unauthorized money from Leipzig’s bid.
The lawyer regretted that a decision on the case had not been made prior to the visit to of Jacques Rogge, head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), to Leipzig Monday.
