According to an opinion poll commissioned by the British government, of three thousand people from around the country telephoned to ask their views about a London 2012 bid, 75 per cent said they would like London to bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
The result of the poll will be made public next week as the House of Commons Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport take evidence on whether or not London should bid.
