The Philadelphia 2016 Working Group formed to bring the 2016 Summer Olympic Games to Philadelphia has appointed an executive director. Melissa Grimm, director of the port of Philadelphia and Camden, will assume her position the end of January. The Philadelphia Business Journal reports she will also serve as senior consultant of the Philadelphia Sports Congress Committee, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau responsible for bringing sporting events to Philadelphia.
The organization spearheading efforts to bring the Games to Philadelphia declined to comment further in accordance with a U.S. Olympic Committee request not to discuss Olympic efforts in the media.
The Philadelphia 2016 Working Group was launched last year.
