Paris 2012 has reportedly issued a statement reacting to a front-page article in Tuesday’s Le Parisien, which claimed that according to their poll of International Olympic Committee members Paris would beat London 55-47 in its bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
In a statement issued Friday and reported on zeenews.com Paris 2012 said, “on April 19th, the national daily Le Parisient/Aujourd’hut en France published an article in which it speculated how members of the International Olympic Committee might vote in the competition to choose a host city for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
“Paris 2012 wants to make it clear that no member of its team was interviewed by the newspaper or any other media for this article and we give the piece no endorsement whatsoever.
“It is only the IOC members who will decide the vote on July 6, 2005 in Singapore and Paris 2012 entirely distances itself from this kind of behaviour”.
Last week Paris 2012 CEO Phillipe Baudillon told GamesBids.com that he couldn’t comment on the Le Parisien report.
“Between now and July 6 there will be several of these reports and everyone will have a different opinion” he said.
