French minister for Youth and Sports Jean-Francois Lamour said Tuesday that if Paris hosts the 2012 Summer Olympic Games it would bring an “exceptional development” for France for six years.
Lamour said he will make every effort to ensure Paris does not fail in its bid for the 2012 Games.
He added that the potential development derived from hosting the Games in the field of sports and tourism is estimated at about $6.615 billion per year for at least six years and 40,000 temporary jobs would be created.
Lamour said hosting the 2012 Games in Paris would culminate in a strong growth in sports activities with the potential of more than four million new sports fans in the long term.
