A spokesman for the Paris 2012 bid team told GamesBids.com that a report in the Evening Standard that was quoted on GamesBids.com Thursday is biased.
The newspaper said that a French government report showed “the major tunnels (in Paris) linking roads, rail and metro lines are fire risks”, and “air quality in the tunnels poses a major health risk”.
The Paris 2012 spokesman refuted the report and said, “the report is very biased to indicate all tunnels (in Paris) are having problems”.
The spokesman said there was only one tunnel involved, adding “there is a commission in place to check all of the tunnels and now the commission is checking that tunnel. The tunnel is four km long and built 20 years ago and is going to be fixed”.
