Paris 2012 Announces Olympic Village Tender

The City of Paris has released a public tender for the architectural and urban planning design of the future 2012 Olympic Village should Paris host the 2012 Games. Winning designs will be built on the “Clichy Batignolles” site, North-West of Paris.

Ten architects or teams from France and around the world will be appointed to design the residential buildings for the Olympic Village. Successful proposals will be published and given to project owners for the construction of all Olympic Village buildings.

The project hopes to attract proposals for the internal organization of the residential units in the future Olympic Village. This goes hand in hand with the urban project team drawn up by architect and town planner F. Greeter, landscape architects J. Osty and the OGI technical research team for the Paris 2012 Bid Committee and SEMAVIP (Ville de Paris).

The invitation to tender is open until October 22nd. Each proposal will be evaluated on urban planning and architectural value and suitability in the light of the specific context of the Olympic Village – concentration, flexibility, sustainable development and post Olympic use.

The project will require the creation of a set of graphical documents and participation in two workshops, encouraging debate and preparations with all other service providers selected by the City of Paris.

Each winning team will receive 22,000 Euros.
