The Turin 2006 Open Village began touring the mountains of Italy Thursday to Sunday to familiarize people with the 2006 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The “Truck Torino 2006″ located in front of the Tourist Promotion Office in the Cavalese area, has an information stand. During its four-day stay promotional activities are planned with the Turin 2006 Mascots Neve and Gliz.
According to Turin 2006 the Open Village promotion program “is based on fun and games; a staff of animators will entertain the public with performances that focus on the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines” and a variety of Olympic-themed activities.
Meanwhile not all of the 2012 Summer Olympic bid cities will be represented at the European Figure Skating Championships taking place this week in Turin as previously announced.
Officials from the five bid cities were to visit Turin and take part in a debate on BBC World. The debate was scrapped when the International Olympic Committee (IOC) disagreed with the concept.
