Reports say Ontario Premier Mike Harris will join TO-2008 CEO John Bitove Jr. and other top bid team members in Switzerland this weekend to help boost Toronto’s 2008 Olympic bid.
The IOC’s evaluation commission, which visited all five 2008 bid cities, will release its report at an IOC executive board session next Tuesday.
Ater the report is issued, Harris will take part in a press conference and is hoped to be on hand to meet with IOC members and other Olympic officials.
The bid committee is planning a reception at an exclusive Lausanne hotel on Monday night.
Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman was in Europe last week to help lobby for the bid, and met briefly on the weekend with IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch at the International Olympic Committee/International Union of Architects conference held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
