Svetlana Zhurova, speed skating veteran and a gold medallist at the Turin 2006 Winter Olympic Games, is joining Sochi’s 2014 Olympic bid team in an executive role as an Athlete Relations Director.
She will serve as a link between the athletes and the bid committee to ensure that every aspect of the athletes’ experience is addressed during the planning of Sochi’s 2014 bid. She will also help engage fellow Russian athletes to become Sochi 2014 bid ambassadors.
