Craig McLatchey, chief executive officer of a group called the Olympics Games Knowledge Service, was in Vancouver this week as part of an IOC commission team that conducted an orientation seminar for Vancouver 2010.
According to the Globe and Mail, the Olympics Games Knowledge Service was formed to transfer information to cities and countries hosting or bidding for major international sports events around the world. It has been compiling data since 1997.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the major shareholder in the company, based at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne Switzerland. The company provides managing and consulting information for partners and shareholders in future Olympics and world events.
McLatchey told the Globe and Mail, “the transfer of information from one Games to another has been going on informally for some time. There is no shortage of opportunities to help people, using modern technology”.
