North and South Korea Won’t March Together At Salt Lake Games

Athletes from North and South Korea will probably not march together at next month’s Olympic Games as they did at the Sydney Games.

Park Pil-soon, a spokesman for South Korea’s Olympic Committee said, “as far as I know, no North Korean athlete has won the right to compete in the Winter Games”.

According to the IOC, North Korea did accept an invitation to compete in Salt Lake City, but as of now no North Korean athlete has qualified and the deadline for qualifying is Jan. 28.

In Sydney South Koreans competed in all but five events and North Koreans took part in fewer than 10 events.
