North and South Korea reaffirmed Tuesday they will form a united team for the 2006 Asian Games and the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
Sports officials from the two Koreas are expected to meet in the North Korean border town of Kaesong on December 7 to work out details on forming a joint team.
South Korea Olympic Committee spokesman Baek Sung-il said, “we had discussed a single team since we made joint marches in international events six times. As our exchange in South and North Korea has been progressing, the mood was ripe for reaching an agreement”.
The agreement is expected to help advance sports-related cooperation between the countries.
