No Early Olympic Bid For Toronto – Mayor

Toronto’s Mayor David Miller told the Toronto Star that the city won’t be bidding for an Olympic Games in the near future. Toronto had two failed Olympic bids, losing the 2008 Summer Games to Beijing.

Miller, who is running for re-election Monday and is expected to win, told the newspaper, “we lost the Olympics to the United States, then to China. The World’s Fair we couldn’t get the national and provincial governments on side or at least in agreement. I think it’s time to focus on building Toronto ourselves for ourselves”.
