Beijing 2008 began training 67 new staff members Tuesday who will work at its Media Operations Department. The group was selected from 70 media organizations operated in one third of the country’s administrative divisions, and specialized personnel are to be assigned to venue teams to enhance print media and photographers management.
Meanwhile, on August 8, the one-year countdown to the Beijing 2008 Games, ten thousand Beijing citizens will play table tennis on 1,000 tables in Tiananmen Square. Following trials held in each of the city’s districts and counties the chosen players will compete in front of the electronic countdown board outside the China National Museum, Municipal Sports Bureau chief Sun Kanglin told Beijing Radio.
Beijing 2008 organizers have not yet revealed plans to mark one-year before the Opening Ceremony but a million Beijing citizens performed traditional Tai Chi morning exercises in the city’s parks to mark the two-year countdown last year.
