Reports say that New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is to fly to Athens Wednesday to make the case for New York’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
The mayor and a delegation plan to attend a series of meetings in Athens approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to discuss New York’s bid with IOC members.
It seems that although the IOC forbids the lobbying of selection committee officials, such presentations are allowed.
Bloomberg will receive behind-the-scenes tours of the Olympic Village and the Olympic Stadium.
Athens Mayor Dora Bakoyannis will host a rooftop garden reception for the mayor at Athens City Hall on Friday night.
