New York and Istanbul are among the nine 2012 Olympic bid cities releasing details of their bids today including publication of the questionnaire responses or mini bid-books.
New York will formally present their bid later today but have already released the document they filed with the IOC yesterday.
The American bid projects over US$1.8 billion Olympic Games revenue and plans to spend US$22.5 million to try to win the bid. Public support for the bid within New York City is at 73%.
New York proposed an Olympic ‘X’ plan to organize venues and transportation in an efficient manner that combines rail and water within the city. Costs to build the required infrastructure include US$1.5 billion for the Olympic Village and US$5 billion for the West Side Olympic Complex.
Istanbul produced their fourth consecutive bid plan and rely on an already legislated “Olympic law” to guarantee venues, infrastructure and financing.
Public support for the Turkish bid is at 89% within Istanbul and 88% across the country. The bid committee plans to spend US$6 Million on their candidature campaign. Many of the events will be held in existing upgraded venues.
