An executive of Credit Suisse First Boston has been recruited to become New York 2012’s vice chairman and head fundraiser. The New York Times calls John J. Mack a “golf nut” speculating that if New York wins the 2012 bid there’s a good chance golf would be added to the sports mix.
According to the newspaper Mack will marshal efforts to raise $30 million by July 2005, when the International Olympic Committee makes its decision.
He said, “bringing the Olympics to New York City will have a powerful positive impact on the spirit, economy and global standing of our city and the entire nation”.
