Should New York win the bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games ticket prices will range from $25 to $1,500, banners will adorn 250,000 street poles, and 1,793 rooms at the Waldorf-Astoria and New York Palace hotels have been set aside for members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
NYC2012 has already signed firm contracts with more than 200 hotels for nearly 45,000 rooms, about a third of the city’s entire supply, at a formula rate that is intended to avoid gouging.
It has also signed deals for 95 per cent of the city’s 600,000 advertising signs, including billboards, bus, subway and street furniture, during the Games.
An Olympic Brand Protection Board has been created to try to prevent non-sponsors from “ambush” advertising and there’s a special toll-free phone line to report any infractions of the rules.
Also, about one-third of the 36,000 New York police force would be devoted to Olympic security.
