New IOC Regulation Forces Bids To Be Renamed

A new IOC requirement that Olympic bidding organizations use a single City designation has forced some bids in progress to be renamed. The Washington/Baltimore Regional 2012 Coalition was first to announce that in the future they will be known as “Washington D.C. 2012”. Two other U.S. 2012 candidates, The Bay Area and Florida will also have to be renamed to a single City.

The Canadian 2010 Winter Games candidate Vancouver-Whistler will also have to consider a name change.
