Following an announcement by Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi that New Delhi would for the third time bid for the 2014 Asian Games, Kalmadi said, “we are also in the race to host the 2016 Olympics. The process for bidding will start very soon”.
He added, “happy days are here again. Indian sports will not look back now”, referring to his party’s victory in recent elections.
Kalmadi said the city would have the required infrastructure in place to host the Asian Games as it will be hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
