Russia has assured the statutes of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games by passing a bill in the Russian State Duma to ensure both events are hosted to the highest level possible, and, according to a press release, will allow Sochi 2014 to stage an “innovative Olympic and Paralympic Games”.
The bill will also allow the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee to distribute Paralympic identity cards to members of the Paralympic Family and Paralympians to secure a comfortable stay during the Sochi 2014 Games.
Russia adopted the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in September 2008.
