Moscow Youth Asked To Invent Youth Olympic Games Emblem

Moscow youth were asked Saturday by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov to invent an emblem and a talisman of the First Youth Olympic Games in 2010.

The Mayor met with the youth as part of celebrations marking the Day of the City – Moscow’s 860th anniversary, reports Itar-Tass.

Luzhkov said, “our chances to host the First Youth Olympic Games are very high. We gave an application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The country’s leadership and all Russia support us to host these famous games”.

He added, “we have an advantage – in 1998 Moscow brilliantly organized the World Youth Games – the first ones in the history that gave us such athletes as Alina Kabayeva and Yelena Isinbayeva”.

Luzhkov asked the young people to invent the Games emblem because “the grown-ups can’t manage”, reports the news agency.
